Microsoft freed Outlook from the confines of the PC on Thursday, releasing full-featured Outlook apps for iPhones, iPads and Android devices. Based on another app called Acompli, which Microsoft bought a few months ago, this new app combines email, appointments, contacts and an attachment manager into one app, so users don’t have to bounce between separate, incompatible applications. Gone are the days of copying and pasting details into four different places!

Here are some of the most impressive features:

  • Email support for many major email providers on both iOS and Android devices. This is especially good news for Gmail users who have Apple devices. Many reviewers report that this new app handles Gmail perfectly.
  • Focused inbox tab. This feature puts important emails in your Focused inbox for quick viewing while keeping the rest of your emails easily accessible but out of the way. Outlook learns what is important as you move emails and, over time, tailors Focused view to your priorities.
  • Customizable swipe gestures. Scheduling, archiving, flagging and deleting emails simply by swiping to the left or right makes going through piles of emails a breeze. Gestures can be customized in settings to be the most helpful to you personally.
  • Attachment viewer and integrated cloud storage. The ability access cloud storage accounts such as DropBox and Google Drive make viewing and saving email attachments quick and painless.
  • Integrated contacts and calendar. Probably the best feature of the Outlook app is the ability to schedule appointments and view the contacts you communicate with most from the same app you use for your email. Several views for calendars are available which is especially useful for those who manage several calendars at the same time.

Why not try this great free app for yourself? You can download the app for Apple devices HERE or download the pre-release app from the GooglePlay Store HERE
